Kool & The Gang cover from the Houston psych-rock trio known for incorporating soul, dub, and global music influences into their sound. A preview of Late Night Tales: Khruangbin, the latest entry in the popular artist-curated series that started in 2001 and has previously featured contributions by The Flaming Lips, David Holmes, Bonobo, Jon Hopkins, Royksopp and many more. Khruangbin first came to prominence when Bonobo included their song "A Calf Born in Winter" on his own 2014 Late Night Tales mix. They have subsequently played everywhere from India to Peru, opened for artists like Father John Misty and Massive Attack, and appeared at festivals like Glastonbury and Bonnaroo. Their compilation features Nazia Hassan’s Hindi-disco number "Khushi," produced by British-Indian legend Biddu, along with selections from South Korean rock band Sanullim, Nigeria's Maxwell Udoh, Ethiopian artist Roha Band, Belarus artist Песняры, Spain's Paloma San Basilio, and fellow Texans like David Marez and Kelly Doyle. Their third album Mordechai [2020 Dead Oceans/Late Night Tales] charted in the UK [#7], Australia [#4], US [#31], Germany [#8], and eight other countries. It received raves from NME, Variety ["this unusual and alluring group’s best work yet"], Uncut ["a great record"], Mojo, Clash, TLOBF, Q, Rolling Stone, and many others.
