This EP is a lyrical confession on trying to find a way to move through life easier. I wrote about the journey of facing my memories, fears, dreams, and desires that can appear as distractions, excuses, and obstacles in dire need to overcome in finding reality and find your truth. Needing to escape deeper sometimes helps you cope with your reality. Escapism with some sarcastic humor has helped me through. This past year I realized I started to experience dissociation. Dissociation is a break in how your mind handles information. I felt disconnected from my own thoughts, feelings, memories, and surroundings. Dissociation can affect your sense of identity and your perception of time. Time is a big theme subconsciously and consciously I kept trying to understand. People tend to dissociate when they can’t handle the reality. This 6 track EP is all about my fears, dreams, fantasies, and memories. Facing reality had become too difficult so I daydreamed or became too lost in my fears. As a cinema junkie, I really wanted each song to have its own video that invoked each theme to exaggerate the emotion behind the music. As I began to conceptualize the visuals I found myself detaching even further from reality and lost in a surreal projection of what seemed to be my new reality. “A stranger, simpler, darker, and even at times more exciting reality” This is a collection of confessional music paired with a false Utopian visual world. It was a visceral experience bringing the music and visuals together that leaves me still questioning which reality is real and which is truly the utopia.
