Single from the deluxe edition of En Español [2020, #1 Billboard “Latin Pop,” #6 “Americana/Folk,” #32 “Country”], the first Spanish-language album from the Miami, FL band that plays an amalgam of Tex-Mex, country, rockabilly, and Latin music. “Por Ti (Yo Quiero Ser)” is one of three unreleased songs recorded for the new version of the album. Produced by Mavericks bandleader Raul Malo alongside frequent collaborator Niko Bolas [Neil Young, Prince, Sheryl Crow]. The album features contributions from Grammy-winning arranger and pianist Alberto Salas and Tejano accordionist Flaco Jiménez. It was counted among the best albums of the year by Rolling Stone, NPR, PopMatters, and it was nominated for “Best Latin Album” at the A2IM Libera Awards.
