This EP is talking about the current stage Kwaku's life is in right now, being a young black man from a religious household trying to navigate a very treacherous and turbulent industry. In ‘Lucid’ Kwaku thinks of a place where he can be successful and behave without thinking of the ramifications of being an open book to everyone he meets in the industry, which doesn't always reward talent and or hard work which is something he express he has accepted & coming to terms with the fact that he has to play the game. But with the belief that it will all be worth it. Being aware of what it takes to be successful for him time/emotion & energy away from what he can give to someone in a romantic relationship which is what ‘ Angel’ is about. Not having a shoulder to cry on or someone to be vulnerable to, Kwaku sometimes alleviates the stress from certain shortcomings like ‘illusions’ where he indulges in things that are only good in the moment and not the long term. However he welcomes the feelings of discomfort as this is not something he was prepared for. ‘204’ acknowledges that it may not be down to the music, using it as a scapegoat for all his frustrations. His whole life has been preparing for a normal life and he's only been doing this for 2 years so frustrations should be normal. ‘Before you Go’ touched on living in a household where the values you’ve been raised upon do not fastback your progression but rather hinder it (integrity, honesty, hard work and love), and sticking to your guns means missing out on opportunities that may bring you more money. Which make you more successful in immigrated parents because tender is something everyone can understand. But in the long run you know its worth it as you're working towards something far greater.
