An album from the Harlem MC has been cited as an influence by Drake, Wiz Khalifa, and A Boogie With Da Hoodie. The album was inspired by his time behind bars, and the oppression he felt as he served out his lengthy prison sentence [he was originally sentenced to 75 years but is now scheduled to be released this year]. It features production from frequent collaborator Paul Couture and guest spots from French Montana, Raheem DeVaughn, and Giggs. Max B [born Charly Wingate] was originally affiliated with The Diplomats, in particular Cam'ron, who was a childhood friend of his, and Jim Jones, who formed the group ByrdGang, of which Max B was a starring member. Since parting ways with Jones, he has been closely associated with French Montana and producer Dame Grease. He has also appeared on tracks by Kanye West, Styles P, Dave East, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and Curren$y. His 2020 EP Charly received press and acclaim from Complex, Passion of the Weiss [“brilliant”], HYPEBEAST, AllHipHop, HipHopDX, and others. Wave Pack, a 2020 "best of" compilation culled from the his previous mixtapes, received press from Pitchfork [8.0], Revolt.tv, HYPEBEAST, Rap Radar, Respect, and others. His 2019 EP House Money and received coverage from The FADER, Rolling Stone, Complex, WSHH, Okayplayer, HipHopDX, Rap Radar, OnSmash.
