Released on Thursday 17 March, rapper ShiGGa Shay’s latest EP ‘I AM U’ is a testament to the hip-hop star’s ever-evolving body of work. The EP explores personal relationships, love
and the complexities of the human experience, bound by an artistic quest to push the sonic boundaries of his craft.
Working with Taiwanese-American rapper ØZI on lead single ‘Mercury’, both hip-hop artists spit hot rhymes about being stuck in toxic relationships. The track was produced by a
pioneer in the United Kingdom’s Drill music scene, JB Made It (Drake, Fivio Foreign, Chief Keef) and ShiGGa Shay’s frequent collaborator, superjdoug. ShiGGa Shay shares his thoughts on working with ØZI, “I think that he’s a really dope creative. I love the contrast between our sounds on this song. We actually recorded it during the Mercury Retrograde.” ‘Birthday’ sees JB Made It and superjdoug combining their talents on a thumping Drill beat which the rapper lays an impeccable flow over. Closing off the EP is a salsa-tinged party bop 'uKnow"" by Thai producer ZOL and superjdoug with ShiGGa Shay adding his trademark melodic earworms.
