Since it’s release in late 2021, the honest-to-goodness pop love song, “Did I Let You Go,” has captured the hearts of listeners. The track was selected to become part of the Official Soundtrack of the Filipino series, “He’s Into Her: Season 2” starring the Philippines’ most talked about love team, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano. Sticking to the theme and original message exploring “what ifs” and “what could’ve beens,” singer - songwriter, Jon Guelas, reimagined the song with the perspective of both sides of the breakup. Jon’s musicality and captivating voice makes this track easy on the ears and sonically sound to cross borders. Given the relevance of this track, it’s sure to become everyone’s heartbreak-anthem.
This version is totally different from the original. The goal was to make the song more sincere, more heartfelt and bring the hurt of the lyrics to life. We stripped back the pop element in the original and made it more of an acoustic ballad. This version is so much more raw. The idea for the lyric changes was not to just focus on the person questioning if they’d walked away from a relationship too easily, but also the person who was left. I initially wrote the song just thinking about how I felt after leaving that relationship but tried to imagine myself in the other person's position. It was difficult and it definitely hurt but I think we managed to capture that feeling into the song and I’m really happy with the outcome.
