Debut album by the Nigerian-born, London-based singer/songwriter. The singles "Try" and "Message in a Hammer" received press support from Pitchfork, FADER, Stereogum, Clash, GRM Daily, Colors, and Line of Best Fit. He appeared on Little Simz’s 2021 album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. EP Sweetness [2021], with Nigerian producer Sarz, received praise from Pitchfork, Pulse Nigeria ["almost sonically and lyrically perfect"], Ghgossip, Jaguda. Obongjayar’s EP Which Way Is Forward? [2020] received a 7.8 from Pitchfork ["his songs explore a sense of being, the music feels lived in"]. His 2019 single "Frens" was featured on the "FIFA 2020" soundtrack. He was prominently featured on U Know What I’m Sayin? [2019], by Detroit rapper Danny Brown. Will be touring the UK in Sept. and Oct.
