Tosh Rock returns with a brand new banger 大闹天宫 Havoc In Heaven, named after the legendary Sun Wukong a.k.a Monkey God’s rebellion against the celestial heavens in the world renowned 16th century Chinese novel ‘Journey To The West 西游记’. With his distinctive style and signature multilingual rhymes representative of his Singaporean roots, Tosh’s latest single exudes the fun-loving and rebellious nature of the Monkey God. The song also pays homage to a variety of icons Tosh grew up loving - from anime Pokémon and Dragon Ball Z, to celebrated TV shows Phua Chu Kang and Legend of the Condor Heroes and last but not least, actors Bruce Lee and Nicholas Tse.
As a child, Tosh loved watching television and fondly remembers having his eyes glued to the screen with his family whenever the Hong Kong TV adaption of ‘Journey To The West’ starring Zhang Weijian aired. His childhood obsession with Sun Wukong began from there and he would often imagine he was the mythical character while playing at home. Fast forward to present day, the story of the Monkey God’s growth from defiant demon to humble immortal resonates deeply with Tosh, which ultimately inspired him to pen the song.大闹天宫 Havoc In Heaven is supported by PUMA, of which Tosh is the brand ambassador for the Southeast Asia region.
