"MANON, the artist transmitting Japanese Hyperpop from the heart of Tokyo, singer and performer SUNNY ONLY1, visual artist Dan, and 3D graphic artist Kano Rogers are the talented individuals who make up the girls creative collective, bala.
bala expresses themselves through mixing their unique creative tastes with current Japanese youth culture. Since before their debut, the girls have been attracting massive attention from the fashion scene, as well as street culture media such as i-D, while simultaneously making eye-catching contributions to the recently popular Y2K movement.
Coming as bala's debut single ""barla"" was produced by top J-pop producer Shinichi Osawa, who has produced a handful of hits under the name of his unit Mondo Grosso. The single's lyrics were written by WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA's Kenmochi Hidefumi, who has released on Kitsune in the past. ""barla"", which will be bala's theme song, is a revival of the late 90's filter house genre, and it's the perfect groovy pop tune to represent the collective's energy.
bala belongs to ASOBISYSTEM, the same company who houses Yasutaka Nakata (Perfume, etc.), Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (who recently performed at Cochella 2022), and 88rising's ATARASHII GAKKO!. "
