Album introduction on “BEANSTALK”. The name is taken from the fairy tale “Jack and the Beanstalk”. Jack traded for a handful of magic beans, which sprouted overnight and grew into an enormous beanstalk with its branches reached up into the solid clouds. He climbed up and found a kingdom in the sky with a castle covered by the vines. Outwitting the giant, Jack retrieved a sack of jewelry, an enchanted hen that lays golden eggs, and a magical harp that plays and sings by itself. This album has brought out the concept of the artist in pursuit of musical and spiritual realm through Jack’s treasure hunting adventure journey. Jack revealed his de-sire and curiosity by climbing upward, as well as to the creative’s performance in the meaning of “creation”. Within these 8 musical composition pieces; from the outset to the vast is as to the exiled deserted land, I’ve re-alized that I am the only salvation for my very own self and sensed the outgrow after the adieu. Eventually, it’s implied all are dust we shall return, and becoming the nutrient for the next cycle.
The album blends with Soul, Jazz, Rock, Funk, R&B and experimental electronic sound with some Country folk, Indigenous music, and other genres to the vibe. This album presents softer texture and more intimated narrative tone which is different from the previous album "YELLOW FICTION (2020)“. This time, Hsuan Huang (also known as YELLOW) turning himself into Jack in the fairy tale and leads all into a stim-ming adult whimsical world.
The album of "BEANSTALK" is a co-production with Hsuan Huang and a long-term partner Chia-Lun Yue. Song composition and music arrangement are by Hsuan Huang, and Chang Wu is the lyricist, who won the best rap album of the Golden Indie Music Award. Besides the regular the YELLOW lineup band, especial-ly invites the top musicians in Taiwanese music scene such as trumpeter Stacey Wei, talented harpist Paige Su, percussionist Alex Wu, Taiwan-Japanese musical wizard Toshi Fujii, Interesting Quartet celloist Jiro Yeh, well-known overseas double bassist Vincent Hsu, and feature many more on the masterpiece.
