‘Sights’ is a contemporary R&B track that describes the feeling of finding solace in another through physical connection. In collaboration with Singaporean artist Jean Seizure, the duo muses on infatuation and the fleeting feelings of intimate desire. Propelled by the thrill of such pursuits, Josh and Jean bask in momentary bliss without strings attached.
“Writing ‘Sights’ together with Jean brought in a new experience for me as I would usually write my songs alone, basing my songs around my personal life. Having Jean onboard helped with the ideating process as we both had different experiences which we could share and relate to the song, and I think that’s what makes this collaboration special.” Makazo recounts.
Combining elements of R&B and Hip-Hop, Makazo draws inspiration from artists like Bryson Tiller, The Weeknd and DPR IAN to frame his journey of self exploration.
“Like the dopamine rush you get when you see your crush, “Sights” is that feeling of attraction in exclusivity. Moving past the heartbreak in “half of my heart”, “Sights” transitions to infatuation, desire and love again.” Makazo continues.
‘Sights’ is the fifth in a bevy of singles that are slated to be released over the course of 2023. These singles follow Makazo on his journey of self-discovery and reflection, culminating in his debut album 'GRADIENT', slated for release in October 2023.
